Evaluation- Changes during production

During the making process of our film, there were a few changes made. Some were due to the fact that the final deadline was quickly approaching, others were because props were forgotten and some were due to the fact that we thought it would make the final outcome look better.

The first change we made was during filming at High Broom Woods, whilst filming there we realised that we had forgotten the piece of paper that Beth was suppose to be holding in her hand, this is quite a significant prop at the time, but once we had finished filming we realised that we didn't necessarily need it and that we could work around it.
The second change we made was deciding not to have a voice over. Once we had finished editing the footage and added the music we felt that the voice over wasn't needed and the music alone was extremely effective. We felt that if we were to add a voice over that it was take away the drama of each shot and be too distracting.

Another change made was the location of the bathroom scene. It was originally supposed to be filmed in my bathroom, however due to a quickly approaching deadline we didn't really have the time to go back to mine to film it so we decided to film it in the boy toilets. We still feel that the setting has the same effect and gave us all the shots we wanted.

As we started editing the footage we realised that to have all the shots of Beth lying dead was all too much at once, and also it was hard to interlink all the other characters, so we decided to have a shot of Beth and the beginning as planned but to then have shots of Beth lying dead between each shot of the other characters.

Another change we had to make was the bin used when Dave is burning the pictures of Beth. Unfortunately the bin we had planned to used was plastic and because the pictures were being burnt, the fire would melt the plastic, so instead we decided to use a metal wheelbarrow. It still gave the same effect, just was a lot more safer and appropriate.

The last change that was made, was the blood on Jack shirt. Not only did we find it hard to find fake blood that looked real but when we thought about it, the shots of Beth lying dead had no blood in it at all, so for Jack to be washing a blood shirt wouldn't really make any sense. We decided the best thing to do was for Jack to be washing a muddy shirt, this would link him to the woods, as Beth looks rather muddy and dirty.

The Final Deadline

During the last week of editing and finalising we started to have a few worrying problems. As we started to add titles and the production logo, our file became corrupted and wouldn't let us open it, everyone started to panicking and for a short period of time we thought we had lost everything, luckily however MACS have a back-up file and due to Mr Go's help we were able to get everything back ok. Everything was rather stressful as we wanted to get everything perfect and we started to worry that we were running out of time. We decided to use LiveType for our credits, that was a problem in itself. Everytime we added the credit it would make the rest of the film go faster, but we were able to find the problem and solved it in time.

Overall i enjoyed the whole process of the film, we had times where we really struggled and at the begenning barely was able to come up with ideas, however over the course our passionate for our project grew and we therefore began enjoy it even more allowing us to try and make this the best and perfect as possible.

Evaluation- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

As a group we had a lot of problems with the technology here are some of the things we learnt:

-Technology can be very unreliable and you can loose work quickly if you don't save.

-We found some programs can be difficult and unclear how to use.

-The zoom on the camera was very poor quality so it was hard to get decent shots without loosing some quality focus.

-At one point Emily's hard drive broke, which delayed us adding the music to our film.

-Live- type was confusing and made our opening go fast and was unreliable.

-We had never used MAC's before so found it quite hard to get to grips with the software.

Here are a few examples of what types of programmes and softwares we used:

Garage band - for music

Livetype - for titles and credits

Itunes  - also for music playing and software purposes

Feedback- on our final project

A few pieces of feedback which was given to us, when asked in class to evaluate eachothers performances, giving feedback on what we've done.

Feedback we have gained from fellow pupils from our school who have watched and judged our opening scene, they commented on our strong points, what they like and enjoyed, also what they did not like and thought would could be improved, however overall our project and feedback shows us it was successful as it was suitable for that target audience.

As you can see from our proposed target audience our film falls under the correct category. The younger age group like it but they felt that they were to young. It was successful with the the suited target audience with 15-25 year olds. Also it was enjoyed by the older age group but the majority felt that they were too old and it was targeted more for a younger age group. So overall we were very successful with our target audience.

Final production developement

As a group we have finally made a decision to what logo we are going to use for our production company. We started to look at Working Titles logo, we liked it because it was simple and to the point, this is exactly what we want, so we then decided to base our logo around this. We went on dafont.com and choose similar fonts to create our logo and the outcome we believe looks amazing and of an professional creation.

Our initial idea for our final production, sketch form

Then developed in photoshop into what we wanted it to look like

The different types and styles of fonts we could use, from a site called 'dafont'

Finally found two styles we like to encouperate, and came up with the lavish, unique productions

This is to be presented at the very beggening of our opening sequence.
